Description

This shelter shed, located approximately 40 meters south of The Byre, dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, topped with a straw thatch roof. The structure features four bays and is open to the yard, supported by three circular stone piers that are broad at the base and taper to the wall plate. There are timber posts at either end, with the right post replaced by a brick wall. The roof is a tie-beam truss design with collars and clasped principals.
