Description
Felden House is a house dated 1680, located on Main Street in Charlton. The building has been altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof with brick chimneys. The house has an L-plan lobby entry and consists of two storeys and an attic, with two bays. The central doorway is framed by a 20th-century stone porch, which has a datestone on a sundial in the gable that was moved from a wall behind. The windows have wooden lintels and consist of iron and wooden casements with two and three lights. The 17th-century cellar includes a window with two lights and a stone mullion to the right, along with two similar cellar windows that are blocked. On both the ground and first floors, there are stone mullioned windows with three lights and square hoods, as well as similar windows on the left side of the house. Inside, there is an open fireplace with remains of an oven. At the rear, there is a two-storey extension from the 18th to 19th centuries.
