Description
Walnut House is a 17th-century house located on Main Street in Charlton. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a recent tile roof with brick chimneys. The building has an L-shaped plan with a lobby entry, standing two storeys high with an attic and comprising two bays. The original central doorway, which had a wooden lintel, is now blocked and has been replaced by an entrance situated at the angle of the two wings, accompanied by a 20th-century porch. The house has stone mullioned windows with two and three lights, which have been renewed, and square hoods above them. To the right, there is a projecting gable wing that consists of one bay, featuring stone mullioned windows: a four-light window on the ground floor, a three-light window on the first floor, and a two-light window in the attic. The gable includes a blank plaque and has moulded coping on the kneelers.
