Description
The Maltsters Arms is a public house dating from the 18th century, located at 20 West Street in Lower Weedon. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone, featuring bands and quoins made of ironstone, and has a plain tile roof with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a two-window range on the front facade. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with panelled reveals and a reeded wood surround, topped with a straight hood supported by brackets. This door is flanked by three-light casement windows that have rendered flat-arched heads. On the first floor, there are similar two-light windows. The building has a chamfered plinth and brick coped gables with kneelers. To the left, there is a two-storey, one-window addition that includes a cellar door and two-light casements on both the ground and first floors, all featuring timber lintels. Inside, the property has chamfered spine beams, although it has been remodelled over time.
