Description
This is a Nonconformist chapel dated 1792, situated in Weedon. It is constructed of ironstone ashlar with a hipped slate roof. The building has two bays. The front of the chapel features a central leaded window with a segmental arched head. Flanked on either side are double doors with six panels, also topped with segmental arched fanlights and pedimented hoods supported by dentil cornices on brackets. A datestone, inscribed "1792," is positioned under the eaves. The building has a chamfered plinth and moulded stone eaves.
Inside, the chapel features galleries on three sides, supported by octagonal wooden columns and capitals. Original box pews remain. The pulpit is original, although it has been lowered. Early 19th-century marble wall monuments are present, commemorating John Spencer (died 1808), Reverend Joseph Gronow (died 1816) – signed by Whiting of Northampton – and Elizabeth Pinkerton (died 1824), also by Whiting.
The chapel forms a pleasing group with the Old Manse to its left.
