Description
Thistle House is a house dated 1747, located on the north side of Church Street in Lower Weedon. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features an old tile roof with brick end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The central entrance includes a part-glazed door with an overlight, framed by a reeded wood surround and topped with a cornice hood. The ground and first floors have 16-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads and keyblocks, except for the right ground floor window, which has a later inserted timber lintel. Notable architectural details include a chamfered plinth, a storey band, moulded stone eaves, quoins, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. A datestone on the right gable is inscribed with "RE/1747". Inside, the house features chamfered spine beams and a large open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
