Description
The Yews is a house located in Lower Weedon, dated 1729. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with an overlight and a gabled hood supported by brackets. The house has 19th-century plate-glass sash windows throughout, each with stone lintels and keyblocks. Above the central first-floor window is a datestone inscribed with "B/AH/1729". Architectural details include a wave-chamfered plinth, quoins, moulded stone eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. There are two gabled dormers on either side of a rooflight.
Inside, the property features boxed spine beams, an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer, a room with fielded panelling, a dado rail with a Greek key pattern, a corner cupboard with shaped shelves, and a 19th-century marble chimneypiece. The open-well staircase has turned balusters and a collar truss roof.
