Description
No. 37 West Street is a cottage dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and limestone in alternating bands, with some cob and brick, topped with a thatched roof and featuring brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two stories high with a two-window range. On both the ground and first floors, there are two-light casements, all with timber lintels. The cottage has a rendered plinth, with stone up to the level of the ground floor window lintels and on the gable end wall to the right, while the first floor is rendered cob. There is an entrance at the rear that leads to a 20th-century two-story red brick extension. Inside, the upper floor features a stud-partition and a collar truss roof.
