Description

The Firs is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Queen Street in Upper Weedon. Built in 1692, it features ironstone ashlar construction with an old tile roof and brick ridge stacks, arranged in an L-plan. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range on the entrance front facing the yard. This front includes a central six-panelled double-leaf door framed by a moulded stone surround and a bond mould, along with a small horizontal oval window above it that has a raised stone surround. The windows throughout the façade are two-light ogee-moulded stone mullions with moulded sills and hood moulds. A datestone inscribed "I/TE/1692" is located below the central first-floor window. The structure has a moulded stone plinth, eaves, and stone-coped gables with kneelers.

At the rear, there is a wing made of banded ironstone and limestone, which features similar windows and a stone-coped gable with a kneeler and one ball finial. The rear also has windows without hood moulds and banded stonework. Inside, the property boasts ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, stone flagged floors, an open fireplace with an ogee-stop-chamfered bressumer, a balaction moulded stone fireplace on the upper floor, and a collar truss roof.
