Description
Home Farmhouse is an early 19th century farmhouse that was doubled in size during the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with ironstone ashlar detailing, and has a hipped slate roof with brick lateral stacks. The original design was a two-unit, central staircase plan, later extended to a double-depth layout. The front of the house has three storeys and a three-window facade. The entrance features a central six-panel door with a timber lintel, and three-light leaded casement windows to the ground, first, and second floors. There's a two-light casement window above the door and a blank window at the centre of the second floor; all windows have stop-chamfered timber lintels. A single-storey brick lean-to extension is located to the right, containing a six-panel back door with a semi-circular hood on brackets, and a two-light casement window to its right. A straight joint is visible on the side elevation. The garden front, dating from approximately 1840, is two storeys high and faced with stone. It features a central six-panel door with an ornamental overlight within a pilastered stone surround and entablature. There are twelve-pane sash windows on the ground floor and nine-pane sashes on the first floor, all with stone lintels and keyblocks. Architectural details include a plinth, quoins, a first floor string course, and a stone eaves cornice. The interior remains uninspected.
