Description
No. 9 Oak Street is a house dated 1652, constructed from banded ironstone and limestone, with a slate roof and brick ridge and end stacks. It features a 2-unit plan and is two storeys high with a two-window range. A 20th-century door with a timber lintel is located to the left of centre, and there are 2-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, each with timber lintels. A 20th-century garage extends from the left end of the house. The gable end facing the street has three 3-light ovol stone mullion windows with hood moulds on both floors, and a datestone above inscribed with the year 1652. The right gable end has ironstone quoins and a stone-coped gable with kneelers. Inside, the house features a moulded cross-beamed ceiling and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
