Description
The former Weedon Barracks canal enclosure wall to the south is an early 19th-century structure. It is built of variegated red brick in English bond, with some stone coping. Originally, this wall was connected to the Grand Union Canal to the east, but it is now isolated. The canal used to extend into the Magazine area and further beyond, but this section has since been filled in. Additionally, the canal basin located between the east and west gatehouses featured a central cross arm that allowed barges to turn, although this has since been reduced.
