Description
The Old Rectory is a house that was originally built as a rectory in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of rendered brick and topped with a slate roof, featuring a double-depth plan. The building stands two storeys high with an attic and has a garden front that includes a five-window range. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed double door, which is adorned with an arched fanlight and a moulded stone surround that has an open pediment supported by brackets. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, and there is a raised string course between the floors. The gable ends have parapets, and there are two roof dormers along with brick stacks at both ends. On the left side of the building, there is a 19th-century gabled porch. The rear elevation features two casement windows with leaded lights that contain some crown glass. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have a late 18th-century staircase.
