Description
Numbers 16 and 18, also known as Rose Cottage, are a pair of cottages built in the late 17th century and altered in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed squared limestone and ironstone, topped with a corrugated iron roof, and feature brick ridge and end stacks. The cottages have a two-unit plan and are two stories high with a three-window range. The doors are from the 20th century and have wooden lintels. The ground floor has old two-light casement windows, also with wooden lintels, while half-dormers are present above. Number 18 has a blocked window on the far left with a double-chamfered stone surround. Number 16 includes a 20th-century single-storey extension on the far right and a 20th-century porch. The eaves have been raised in brick following the removal of thatch. Inside, Number 18 features a lobby-entry plan, a chamfered spine beam, and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
