Description

Eastcote House is a county house, dated 1796, which has been divided into two residences. It was altered in the late 19th century and is constructed of ironstone ashlar with a slate roof. The building features stone end and ridge stacks, with the flues of the end stacks rebuilt in blue brick. It has a central-staircase plan and is three stories tall with a three-window range.

The central entrance has a 19th-century glazed door with sidelights, set within a late 19th-century timber porch that has a moulded cornice extending over canted bay windows on either side. The first floor has 12-pane sash windows on the left and right, while the centre features a 'French' window above the porch. The attic floor has 19th-century sash windows, all with stone lintels and key blocks. The central bay projects forward and is framed by a pediment that displays a coat-of-arms with side scrolls. The building has a moulded stone cornice and a plain stone-coped parapet. On the left side, there is a lead rainwater head inscribed with "P/TS/1796."

To the right, there is a slightly lower three-story, one-window former service wing that includes a plank door and three-light leaded casement windows, all with segmental-arched heads. This wing features chamfered stone eaves and a stone-coped gable.

Inside, the house has an open-well staircase with slender turned balusters, carved tread ends, a ramped and wreathed handrail, and column newels, serving all floors. There is a stone cellar, and the old kitchen includes an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer and a stone-flagged floor.
