Description

Number 18 is a cottage located on Gayton Road in Eastcote, dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a ridged tile roof with brick stacks at each end. It has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a two-window range.

To the right of the centre, there is a door and window from a former butcher's shop, which has a single wood lintel. The ground floor has two-light casement windows on the left and right, while the first floor features a small two-light casement window on the left and a three-light casement window on the right, all with wood lintels. The building has quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers, and a bread oven projection is visible on the left gable end.

At the rear, there is an entrance with a 20th-century gabled porch. Attached to the right is a barn that has a slate roof, a plank door with a wood lintel, and a loft door to the right, also with a plank door and wood lintel. Inside the cottage, there is an open fireplace featuring an elm cambered chamfered bressumer and a bread oven, along with stop-chamfered spine beams.
