Description
Trafford House is a house dating from the late 18th century, which incorporates work from the 17th century. It is built of ironstone ashlar with a slate roof and brick stacks. The building has two storeys and a cellar, featuring three bays. The central doorway has a plain wooden surround, a six-panel door, and a rectangular overlight, topped by an original flat wooden hood supported by scroll brackets. There are three-light windows on either side of the door, which have straight stone heads, keystones, original mullions, transoms, and old iron casements. On the first floor, there are similar windows in the outer bays and a two-light casement window in the centre. The roof is hipped, with flanking brick stone stacks. At the rear, there is a 17th-century three-light cellar window with stone mullions and a square hood. To the left, there is a 20th-century extension made of coursed ironstone rubble with a slate roof, which is two storeys high and has one bay. The interior has not been inspected.
