Description
The Welland is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, topped with a straw thatch roof and featuring brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and is two stories high, with a three-window range. A 20th-century door is located on the far left, accompanied by two-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, except for a single-light 20th-century casement window on the ground floor to the right of center; all windows have wooden lintels. Inside, there are bar-stop-chamfered spine beams and chamfered spine beams. The left end room was previously used as a slaughterhouse and has a loft above it.
