Description
The Waterways Museum is a warehouse building from the early 19th century that has been altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and features a ridged tile roof. The building is three stories high and has a two-window range. There is a doorway to the left of the center with a segmental-arched head, and similar openings can be found on the first and second floors. The windows are two-light casements with wooden lintels and iron bars. To the left, there is a single-storey extension that serves as the museum shop. This building was formerly part of a mill complex, which included a mill engine house and a tall chimney that were located on the site now occupied by the museum shop; these were demolished before the First World War.
