Description

Lock Number 14, known as Stoke Top Lock, is a pair of locks located on the Grand Union Canal, constructed in the late 18th century to early 19th century and restored in 1868, 1881, and the 20th century. The locks are built from red and blue brick and feature timber swing gates. The pair includes both double-width and single-width locks; the single-width lock is currently dry and has double cast-iron lower gates sourced from Welshpool on the Montgomery Canal, along with a boat weighing machine from the Glamorganshire Canal in Cardiff. The double lock is equipped with both upper and lower double gates and is situated at the top of a flight of seven locks.
