Description

Nos. 4 and 5 Church Brampton are two houses built in 1848 by E. Blore. They are constructed of squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and have a plain tiled roof. Each house has a two-unit plan and is two stories high, featuring a two-window range of casements with ashlar surrounds and cast iron diamond panes. The bays project forward with gables, and there are rebuilt brick stacks at both ends. The gables display a datestone with the Spencer Arms. Gabled porches on the side elevations have four-centred heads and 19th-century ribbed doors. These houses are part of a planned layout that includes ten houses and accompanying wash houses. The interiors were not inspected.
