Description
This cottage, located at 1 Glassthorpe Lane, dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some raising in the early 19th century. It is built from coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The cottage has a two-unit lobby-entry plan and is three storeys high with a two-window range.
The entrance on the left consists of a four-panel door with an overlight and a stop-chamfered wood lintel. To the right, there is a three-light leaded window, also with a stop-chamfered wood lintel. There is a two-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window to the right of the centre and a one-light window to the far right, both with stop-chamfered wood lintels. On the first floor, there is a three-light leaded casement window to the left and a similar two-light window to the right, both featuring stop-chamfered wood lintels. The cottage is adorned with quoins, storey bands, and stone-coped gables with kneelers.
Inside, the cottage includes a chamfered spine beam, an open fireplace with a cambered stop-chamfered bressumer, a fitted cupboard with shaped shelves, and an old stud partition.
