Description
Elmhurst is a house dating from the mid-18th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and features a reed thatch roof with brick end stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, comprising a two-window range. The central entrance has a four-panel part-glazed door set in a pegged wood surround, topped with a stop-chamfered wood lintel. It is sheltered by a gabled timber porch with trellis sides.
The original windows are three-light leaded casements on both the ground and first floors, featuring crown glass quarries. The ground floor windows have flat-arched heads, while the first floor windows are supported by wood lintels. The building also has quoins, a central roof dormer with a two-light leaded casement, and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Inside, the house includes stop-chamfered spine beams and a collar-truss roof.
