50,51 AND 52, LOWER HARLESTONE

50, 51, and 52 Lower Harlestone are three houses built in 1851 by E. Blore. They are constructed from squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and have a plain tiled roof. Each house consists of two units, forming an L-shaped plan. The buildings are two stories high and feature a three-window range of casements with ashlar surrounds and cast iron diamond panes. There are two entrances between the windows at the front and one entrance to the side, all with 4-centred heads and ribbed doors. The end bay projects forward with gables, and the center window has a false dormer. Rebuilt brick stacks are located at both ends. The gables have datestones displaying the Spencer Arms. This group is part of a planned layout of ten houses along with accompanying wash houses. The interiors have not been inspected.
