Description

The Fox and Hounds is a public house dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of lias ashlar stone with a slate roof. The building has a two-unit plan and is arranged over two storeys with an attic, featuring a five-window front. The central entrance has a four-panelled door set within a flat arch with a keystone. The windows are 12-paned sashes, also with flat arch heads and keystones; those immediately to the left of the entrance are tripartite sashes. A string course runs between the ground and first floors. A moulded stone cornice sits above this, and the roof is finished with ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. There are three 19th-century dormers. Brick and stone stacks are located at the ends of the building. A similar wing extends to the rear, with 19th-century outbuildings and later 20th-century remodelling.
