Description

The wash house located between numbers 49 and 50 in Lower Harlestone was built around 1851 by E. Blore. It features squared coursed lias with ashlar dressings and a plain tiled roof. The building has a one-unit plan and is a single storey. It includes a large three-light casement window with a transom, cast iron diamond panes, and an ashlar surround in the end gable. There is a brick and stone stack at one end and a plank door on the side. This wash house is part of a planned layout that includes ten houses and accompanying wash houses, specifically numbers 43 to 52.
