Description

Home Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse constructed of coursed squared limestone with old plain-tile roofs and stone end stacks. The stacks have chamfered bases to the flues and moulded caps. The building follows a 2-unit central-staircase plan and is arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a 3-window front. A central part-glazed door, set in a pegged wood surround with a wood lintel and a tiled hood on brackets, is approached by three brick steps with stone risers. Tripartite sash windows are present to the left and right of the ground and first floors, all with wood lintels. Above the door is a small, one-light window with a wood lintel. Two two-light, flat-faced stone mullion cellar windows are located to the left of the steps; one is blocked. A chamfered ironstone plinth and ironstone jambs to the ground floor windows are also visible. The building is further characterized by ironstone quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. A lower, two-storey, one-window extension is attached to the left-hand side, incorporating a back door. The interior features chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
