Description

The Bartholomew Arms Public House is an 18th-century building that was partly rebuilt in 1822. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with slate roofs and features brick end stacks, with the one on the right set on a stone base. The building has an L-plan layout. The older section has two storeys and an attic, while the part from 1822 has three storeys and a four-window range.

There is a six-panel door to the right of a central straight joint, which includes an overlight and a timber lintel. The right half of the 1822 section has three-light casement windows on the ground, first, and attic floors, except for a canted bay window on the ground floor to the right. All these windows have timber lintels. There is also a two-light chamfered stone mullion cellar window to the right of the door. The building features quoins, chamfered stone eaves, and a stone-coped gable. A datestone inscribed with "1822" is located in the right gable.

The left half of the building has a canted stone bay window to the left of the door and three-light casements on the ground and first floors, all with timber lintels. It also has chamfered stone eaves and a stone-coped gable with kneelers. A rear left wing has similar windows and a stone-coped gable with kneelers. Inside, the pub features ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and a large open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer, as well as a stone cellar.
