Description
No. 8 High Street is an early 19th-century house constructed of red brick with limestone dressings and a hipped slate roof, featuring brick internal stacks. The building has a central staircase plan and is two stories tall with a three-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door flanked by sidelights, all set in a painted stone surround with pilasters and a pediment. It has 16-pane sash windows throughout, each with stone sills and lintels that include keyblocks. Notable architectural features include chamfered stone quoins, a storey band, and boxed cases. The entrance is accessed by five stone steps, with an iron handrail on either side. To the left, there is a single-storey extension. The interior includes an open well staircase with stick balusters, carved tread ends, and a ramped handrail.
