Description

The Old Rectory is a house that was formerly a rectory, likely dating from the 15th century, with alterations made between the 17th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a plain-tile roof from the 20th century, along with stone end stacks. The building has a cruck frame and was originally designed as a hall house, now arranged in a three-unit plan.

It is two stories high with a two-window range. The central entrance consists of a plank door with an overlight, set within a 20th-century timber porch that has a hipped roof. To the right on the ground floor, there is a 20th-century canted bay window, and to the far left, a small rectangular casement window, both featuring wooden lintels. The first floor has two-light leaded casement windows, also with wooden lintels.

On the left side, there is a 19th-century single-storey extension that includes a two-light casement window and a back door, both with wooden lintels. Inside, the property has two raised cruck trusses. One of these likely served as the central truss of a small two-bay hall and features hollow chamfers on the cruck blades, two tiers of collars, with the lower collar also having a hollow chamfer, and a saddle. The other truss appears to be a closed truss at the service end of the hall, featuring two collars and clasped principals, along with wind-braced purlins.
