Description

The bridge by Brickyard Lodge, built around 1800, is a Grade II listed structure made of limestone ashlar. It features a single-arched design with a low elliptical arch, flanked by pilaster strips and topped with a moulded roundel above a string course that has flat U-shaped brackets. The bridge has a low stone-coped parapet adorned with wrought-iron railings, which include spear finials and slender standards with urn finials. The approaches to the bridge curve outwards, providing access to the park and spanning a stream that feeds into the chain of lakes on the north side of the park. Castle Ashby park and gardens are recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Parks and Gardens for Northamptonshire at Grade I.
