Description

The building at 27 Church End is a house, originally the vicarage, dating to the mid-to-late 18th century, with alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone with a slate roof and brick end stacks. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a five-window front. The building follows a three-unit plan. A central four-panel door, with a glazed upper section and pilastered wooden surround, is flanked by bay windows; the one to the right is of wood and has pilastered angles, while the one to the left is larger and stone-built. The first floor has horned sash windows with stone lintels and keyblocks. Other details include quoins, a storey band, stone-coped gables with kneelers, and a single-storey extension to the right. Inside, a dog-leg staircase is noted, featuring turned balusters. The property served as the vicarage until replaced by a modern vicarage built in Church Lane during the 20th century.
