Description
The Firs is a house dated 1727, featuring 20th-century alterations and additions. It is built of coursed squared ironstone with a slate roof and brick end stacks. The house has a 2-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range. A 20th-century glazed door is located to the left of centre, set within a glazed lean-to porch. The ground and first floors have 20-pane sash windows with wooden lintels, while the ground floor windows are stop-chamfered. The building has quoins and moulded wooden eaves supported by a pair of stone brackets, along with stone-coped gables that also feature kneelers. The right side elevation facing the road has a pair of one-light windows in the attic, each with wooden lintels. A datestone in the gable above is inscribed with F/WR/1727. There is a 20th-century single-storey extension on the left side. At the rear, there is one old leaded two-light casement window with a wooden lintel and some panes of crown glass. The interior has not been inspected.
