Description

This is a pair of late 17th-century cottages located on Courteenhall Road in Blisworth. The cottages were altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are built of roughly dressed ironstone and limestone rubble, with a thatched roof and brick ridge and end stacks to the left, and a stone end stack to the right. Each cottage has a two-unit plan, and together they present a 5-window arrangement over two storeys. A 20th-century door is centrally positioned on the left side, topped with a timber lintel and a thatched hood. Ground floor windows include a 3-light 20th-century casement to the left, a similar 2-light casement to the right of the door, a 3-light casement to the centre, a further 3-light casement to the ground floor right of centre, and a 2-light casement to the ground floor far right. All ground floor windows are set within timber lintels and eyebrow dormers. A rear entrance is provided for No. 3. Inside No. 1, there are chamfered spine beams with run-out stops and two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers. No. 3 also has an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
