Description
Bromleys Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features slate roofs, with brick ridge end stacks set on stone bases. The building has two storeys and an attic, presenting a four-window range.
The central door is blocked and has a straight stone lintel above it. The windows display irregular placement, including a three-light stone mullion window with a hood mould on the far right and a similar two-light window above it on the first floor. To the left, there is a single-storey projection with a lean-to slate roof, which may have been part of a bread oven. Other windows include two and three-light casement windows with timber lintels, and there is a 19th-century canted bay window to the left of the blocked door.
The left half of the farmhouse is taller and features stone coped gables. A straight joint in the middle of this section likely indicates the original extent of the 17th-century farmhouse, which was raised and extended to the left in the mid-18th century. Inside, the farmhouse contains stop-chamfered spine beams. Access to the rear is through a 20th-century extension.
