Description
The Homestead is a house dating from the 17th century, situated in Woodford cum Membris. It is constructed of squared ironstone, with a tile roof and brick and stone end stacks. Originally a two-unit through-passage plan, the house is two storeys and an attic, with a two-window front. A 20th century gabled porch with a 20th century door sits centrally, flanked by three-light stone mullion windows on both the ground and first floors. Dormers break through the eaves to the left and right, each containing a two-light stone mullion window with leaded lights and a hood mould. The house has quoins and stone coped end gables with kneelers. A rear wing extends to the back; this wing is partly two storeys high, partly one storey and an attic, and contains a single three-light stone mullion window alongside other casement windows. Internally, the house features stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace.
