Description

The Pheasantry is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, built in the early 18th century and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks, the left stack resting on a stone base. The building has a three-unit plan, is two storeys high with an attic, and has a seven-window range.

A central gabled stair-turret rises above the eaves and includes a three-light casement window at ground level, with a one-light window in the mezzanine and attic, all featuring stone lintels and key blocks. There is a worn datestone located below the gable window. To the right of the stair-turret, there is a 20th-century four-panel door set within a verandah that extends over the windows to the right. The ground and first floors have two-light casement windows on either side of the stair turret, flanked by one-light windows, all with stone lintels and keyblocks.

To the left of centre, there is a two-light chamfered stone mullion cellar window. The building displays alternating limestone and ironstone quoins, with ironstone bands at the sill and lintel levels, and ironstone-coped gables with kneelers. Inside, the property features chamfered and ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers. There is also a stone cellar and a collar truss roof. Additionally, there is a single-storey extension to the right.
