Description
Manor Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a plain-tile roof from the 20th century, with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has an L-shaped plan and is two stories high with a two-window range. To the left of the center, there is a six-panel door with a wooden lintel. To the right of the door is a single-light window, and to the left is a two-light casement window. On the first floor, there is a similar two-light window to the left and three-light windows on both the ground and first floors to the right, all featuring segmental-arched heads. The bay to the right of the center is taller than the one to the left, and both have stone-coped gables with kneelers. There is a blocked opening on the right gable end with a moulded Tudor-arched stone surround, which may have been a reused stone fireplace. A wing extends to the rear right. Inside, the cottage has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and two open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers, along with a stone cellar. In the mid to late 19th century, this house was connected to The Manor, but it is now once again an independent property.
