Description
No. 62 Church Street is a house located in Cogenhoe, dating from the early to mid-18th century with some alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a thatched roof with brick stacks at either end. It has a two-unit central-staircase plan, stands two storeys high with an attic, and has a three-window range.
The central entrance consists of a four-panel door with an overlight, set within a gabled timber porch. On both the ground and first floors, there are three-light casement windows on either side, and a similar two-light casement window is positioned above the door, all featuring wooden lintels. The left gable end facing the street has a two-light chamfered stone mullion cellar window, while the gable end itself has casement windows on the ground and attic floors, also with wooden lintels. The gables are topped with ironstone copings and kneelers. To the right, there is a single-storey extension with a pantile roof.
Inside, the house includes an ogee-stop-chamfered spine beam, an open fireplace with a cambered stop-chamfered bressumer, and a stone cellar.
