Description

Home Farmhouse, dated 1710, is a farmhouse that has been altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with a 20th-century interlocking tile roof and brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring a three-window range and a three-unit through-passage plan. The entrance front, which faces the yard, has a 20th-century door to the left of centre with a wood lintel, a gabled stone porch, and a plank door to the far right also with a wood lintel. The ground floor has two-light casement windows, while the first floor has three-light casements, all with wood lintels. There is a blocked window on the first floor at the far right and a sundial to the right of the middle first-floor window. The farmhouse has quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers.

At the rear right, there is a full-height wing facing the road, which features a 19th-century gabled timber porch and leaded two-light casements on the rear elevation. A datestone on the right gable end is inscribed with M/IE/1710. The interior has not been inspected. The rear wing has an attached garden wall to the right, made of coursed squared ironstone with moulded brick coping. The builder is likely to have been a member of the Marriott family, who lived in this farmhouse for several generations.
