Description
The Old House is a mid-18th century house located on the east side of Harborough Road in Maidwell. It is constructed of regularly coursed lias stone and features a plain tiled roof added in the 20th century. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, with a four-window range of casement windows that have wooden lintels. There are central doors from the 20th century, and brick stacks are present at the ridge and the ends of the building. At the rear, there is an 18th-century wing. Some ground floor windows have shutter hooks and catches. Inside, the rooms on the left and rear right include open fireplaces with bressumers, and there are stop-chamfered beams on the ground floor. The house also features a collar roof truss. At one point, it was used as three separate dwellings.
