Description
The stables at Burton Latimer Hall, now incorporating a flat, date from the 17th or 18th century and were altered in the 19th century. The building features a brick front with limestone dressings set on an ironstone plinth, while the rest is constructed from coursed limestone rubble. It has a Collyweston stone slate roof and is one storey high with an attic. The façade is symmetrically arranged with two doors and two windows on either side of a central carriageway, all beneath a 19th-century shaped gable. The eaves are cogged, and the gables are coped, with a stack at the right end. The 19th-century board doors are complemented by gudgeon-hung casements in cross-windows on the right, which appear to have been lengthened, while the shelter windows on the left have 20th-century glazing. All openings feature gauged brick heads and keystones. There are four hipped dormers on the roof. The rear of the building includes three gabled projections and a cart shelter. Inside, the stables retain their original fittings, although the hayloft has been converted into a flat.
