Description

House, dating from the early 18th century. Constructed of squared coursed ironstone with a slate roof. Originally planned as a two-unit dwelling, featuring a staircase projection to the rear. The two-storey building has an attic and a three-window front with 18th-century casement windows, each featuring wooden mullions and transoms, set under wooden lintels. A central entrance has a six-panelled door with a hood featuring a pediment. A large central dormer is present on the roof. The building has ashlar gable parapets and brick and stone stacks located at the ends. The rear elevation is similar, and includes a 19th-century lean-to extension. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance has an open fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered ceiling beams. The fine early 18th-century staircase to the rear is characterized by turned balusters, continuous newels, and quarter landings.
