Description
18-20 Main Street is a pair of three houses built between 1860 and 1864 for Lady Overstone. They are constructed from regularly coursed lias stone with brick dressings and feature a slate roof. Originally, each house had a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The front facade displays a three-window range consisting of two-light wood-mullioned windows with cast-iron lozenge glazing bars, all set under flat brick arches with brick dressings. The centre window on the first floor is a half dormer. The flanking bays project slightly, with the right bay having a one-window range. Slit windows are located at the apex of the roof. Number 19 features a 20th-century door to the left of centre, also under a flat brick arch with brick dressings. The eaves overhang with plain bargeboards, and there are brick stacks at the ridge. The left and right elevations each have gabled porches with three-light windows and half dormers. The interiors have not been inspected.
