Description

Woodland Cottage comprises four houses built between 1860 and 1864 for Lady Overstone. The houses are constructed from squared coursed lias stone, with a slate roof. Originally designed with two-unit plans, they now present a four-window façade. The windows are double-sash, with glazing bars, though one has been replaced. They are set within flat-arched surrounds of ashlar. The central two bays project forward, topped with gables and slit windows in the apex. 20th-century doors are set in original wooden frames. Porches are located to the left and right of numbers 6 and 7. The eaves overhang, and there are brick and stone stacks at the ridge. Numbers 5 and 8 have gabled porches integrated into the gable walls on either side, each with a slit window in the apex. The interiors have not been inspected.
