Description
Nos 43 and 43A on West Street are probably from the early 18th century but were refronted in the 19th century with ashlar stone. The building is two stories tall and features a steep stone slate roof with high verges and stone chimneys on the gables and one-third of the way from the east end. There are five hipped dormers arranged in a 3:2 pattern from west to east.
The structure includes two slightly curved bays, each with an 8-light stone mullioned and transomed window on both floors. The entrance to No 43 is located between the bays and has a modern door. The east end features a carriageway with an elliptical arch and one sash window on the ground floor, along with two 4-light windows with wooden mullions and transoms on the first floor. The entrance to No 43A is within the yard in a later extension.
Nos 15 to 19 (odd), 25, and 33 to 53 (odd) form a group with the Church of St Wilfred, Paine's Almshouses, and Oundle Congregational Church.
