Description
This 18th-century building, numbers 58 and 60 West Street, resembles a gate lodge. It is a low, two-story structure topped by a cornice and balustrade. A central, semi-circular carriageway provides access to Danford Yard. Four pilasters, two at each end and two flanking the archway, form part of the design. There are two sash windows on each floor, with one window on either side of the central arch. These windows are set in plain reveals, featuring glazing bars, a moulded architrave, and cill. Doorways are situated within the arch. A plinth runs along the base of the building. Modern alterations have been made to the rear of number 58. Number 60 has an unusual chimney on its rear elevation. Numbers 58 and 60 form part of a wider group of buildings with numbers 2 to 36 (even), 42 to 46A (even), 52 to 98 (even) West Street.
