Description
Manor Farmhouse is a manor house that has been converted into a farmhouse. It was built in the late 16th century or early 17th century for John Loftus and underwent alterations in the 19th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof, with an L-shaped plan and two storeys.
The facade has a four-window range with irregularly spaced two-, three-, and four-light stone mullion windows, some of which have ovolo-moulds, while others were renewed in the 20th century. There is a 20th-century door to the left of the center, set under a stone lintel, and evidence of a blocked door to the right. The left side has a hipped roof and ashlar gable parapets on the right, with ashlar stacks at the ridge and end.
On the left elevation, there are blocked two-light stone mullion windows on the first floor, along with two blocked single-light windows and two lateral ashlar stacks. The gable end of the rear wing features some 19th-century windows and a 19th-century lean-to on the left.
Inside, the entrance hall has an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade. The room to the left of the entrance contains a chamfered spine beam with cavetto stops, while the room to the right has similar stop-chamfered spine beams and joists, along with the remains of an open fireplace. The kitchen, located at the far right, has the remains of a large open fireplace that has been truncated.
