Description
The stables, located approximately 50 meters northwest of Deene Hall, were built in the late 18th century and 19th century for the Brudenell family. They are constructed from squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and feature a Collyweston slate roof. The building is a long rectangular two-storey structure with an 11-window main front. The first floor has leaded casements, while the tall ground floor casements have horizontally hinged lights, all with glazing bars and set under gauged stone heads. There are six arch-headed doorways, some with stable doors, positioned between the window ranges, each featuring moulded stone surrounds and keyblocks. The gables have ashlar parapets and stone stacks at the ridge and ends. An archway to the right of the center provides access to a Riding School located about 65 meters northwest of Deene Hall. The left gable includes coachhouse doors with a segmental arch-head. The interior retains some 19th-century loose boxes.
