Description
Village farmhouse and attached barn and cartsheds. The barn dates from the mid 18th century, while the farmhouse was built in 1848 for the Overstone estate. The building features regular coursed lias and lias ashlar with slate and corrugated metal roofs, arranged in a T-shape plan. It is two storeys high with an attic. The entrance front has a three-window range of double and triple sash windows with glazing bars, all set under gauged stone arches. The flanking bays project forward and have gabled dormers above. A central gabled porch features a four-centred arch head with 20th-century glazed doors. The gable ends are adorned with ashlar parapets and kneelers, and there are brick and stone stacks at each end. To the right, there is a two-storey 18th-century wing that has one first-floor casement window. The 18th-century barn includes a central cart entrance and is connected at right angles to a four-bay range of cartsheds with an open brick arcade. The barn retains its original trusses and has a corrugated roof.
